Linda Helm – Fine Print Imaging

Linda helm – vice president of Fine Print

avelinda-7954634As a partner to Mark Lukes in life and in business, Linda’s role has evolved over the years and now includes fiscal oversight, strategic planning and all HR related concerns.  She is well suited to the role having come from a management background in the human services arena.

When asked about the challenges and high points of her work at Fine Print, Linda states, “The challenges involve the many technological changes in the photography industry in the last decade, the retooling of our business and our staff based on those changes and the learning required to hold it all together in a rapidly changing market and a floundering economy.  It is both intimidating and exhilarating to be in business today.

The high points for me all have to do with people. The folks that we share our days (and some nights) with here at Fine Print are, without exception, some of the best people I know.  They are creative, giving, funny, weird, exacting, dedicated and loyal.  And then there is the diverse group of customers who trust us to articulate their artistic vision. I cannot think of a more inspiring, hard working group of individuals.  We learn from them every day and we love helping them to succeed.”

Linda’s life outside of Fine Print mostly revolves around nature in one form or another.  She says, “I love nature. I like being in it, looking at it, smelling and touching it.  And when I’m in the right mood, I like taking pictures of it.  I love birds and bird watching, mushroom hunting, plant identification and really weird bugs.  I savour dark, starry nights, raging storms and the silence of snowfall.  Being in nature is a spiritual tonic for me.”

It’s that reverence for nature and all things wild that fuels Linda’s passion for her work with Art for Conservation.  She is energized by the ability of art to add soul to the science surrounding environmental issues.  Linda believes that art can make science more accessible and understandable to the average person and she wholeheartedly agrees with Dr Seuss’ Lorax  that “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
