Custom Printed Boxes

Custom printed boxes are packaging made to your product's dimensions and printed with your brand. Choose a box style for how the product travels and is opened, a board for the strength it needs, and a print and finish for how it should look.

Which box style should I choose?

Start with how the box will travel. If it goes through the mail on its own, choose corrugated board: a mailer box when the opening moment matters, a shipping box when the contents are heavy or bulky. If it sits on a shelf or inside a shipper, a paperboard carton such as a tuck end or product box prints more sharply and costs less per unit.

Then decide how the box should open. Tuck flaps are quick to pack; a mailer's locking front tab feels like a gift; a sleeve slides off to reveal the box underneath.

Paperboard or corrugated board?

Paperboard is a single, smooth sheet, from 250 to 1200 gsm here, that takes fine print and finishes well; it protects light products on a shelf. Corrugated board has a fluted middle layer between two liners, which gives it the crush strength to survive shipping. Most brands use both: a printed carton for the product and a corrugated mailer or shipper around it.

Measuring for a custom box

Measure the product, not an existing box. The quote form asks for the internal length, width and depth the product needs, in inches, millimeters or centimeters, and the box is built around that space. Add a little room for tissue or an insert if you plan to use one.

Questions about custom printed boxes

What is the difference between a mailer box and a shipping box?

A mailer box has a fold-in front with locking tabs and opens like a lid, so it presents the product. A shipping box closes with top and bottom flaps sealed by tape and is built mainly for protection.

What is the minimum order for custom boxes?

The minimum order is 100 boxes per size and design. Box quotes cover 250 to 10,000 boxes, and larger runs are quoted on request.

Can you print the inside of the box?

Yes. Choose printing on both sides in the quote form to print inside and outside.

Which finishes can I add to a box?

Gloss, matte or natural surfaces, embossing or debossing, spot UV, hot foil in silver, gold, red, green, blue or holographic, and a die-cut window.

Do I need a dieline?

A dieline is the flat template your artwork sits on. Request one for your exact box size and style with your quote; a free dieline cut to your exact inside dimensions comes with every box quote.

How long do custom boxes take?

Production takes 8–12 business days after proof approval, plus 3–6 business days of transit to the US.
