Hang tags
Standard Hang Tags
Standard hang tags are 3.35 × 2.17 in (85 × 55 mm) rectangles, the size of a business card, and they suit almost any product. The format holds a logo plus a price, size or short line of text, prints on card from 250 to 1200 gsm, and can arrive punched, eyeleted and strung.

Why the business-card size works
A 3.35 × 2.17 in tag is big enough to read at arm's length and small enough not to cover the product. It also fits a familiar mental template: shoppers expect the brand at the top and the useful detail below, the way a business card reads.
The format packs flat, stacks neatly in a tagging station and is quick to string by hand, which matters when you tag hundreds of products a week.
What fits on a standard tag
Plan for one main element and two or three lines of supporting text. At 3.35 × 2.17 in, a logo about 1 in tall leaves room for a product name, a size and a price set at 8–10 pt. A barcode needs at least 1.2 in of width plus a clear margin, so it usually goes on the back.
| Element | Practical size | Where it usually goes |
|---|---|---|
| Logo | About 0.8–1.2 in tall | Front, upper half |
| Product name or tagline | 9–12 pt type | Front, below the logo |
| Price or size | 8–10 pt type, or blank for handwriting | Back |
| Barcode | At least 1.2 in wide with a quiet zone | Back |
| Hole clearance | Keep about 0.2 in clear around the hole | Top edge or top corner |
Landscape or portrait?
Landscape reads like a business card and suits wide logos and wordmarks; punch the hole in the top-left corner so the tag hangs at an angle, or in the left edge so it hangs flat. Portrait suits tall marks and lists such as sizes or materials; punch the hole at the top center.
Choosing the card weight
For everyday retail tags, 350 gsm (about 16 pt) is sturdy without being bulky. For a premium feel, 600–700 gsm (about 26–30 pt) is noticeably thicker in the hand. Laminated board from 900 to 1200 gsm (about 38–50 pt) is rigid and works well with foil or embossing for luxury goods.

Questions about standard hang tags
What size is a standard hang tag?
3.35 × 2.17 in (85 × 55 mm), the same as a business card. It can be printed landscape or portrait.
Can I print on both sides?
Yes. Choose front and back in the configurator. Most brands put the logo on the front and price, size or care details on the back.
Can I write prices on the tag by hand?
Yes, on uncoated or kraft card, or on the uncoated back of coated-one-side card. Gloss and matte lamination resist ballpoint pen.
Can standard tags come with strings attached?
Yes. Choose black or white lock string, black or white elastic loop, or rope string, and the tags arrive strung.
What is the smallest order?
The online configurator starts at 1 tag. The minimum order for this site is 1 tag.
Can I add a metal eyelet?
Yes. A silver, gold, black or white eyelet reinforces the hole, which becomes 5 mm instead of 3 mm.
