Why folded tags use lighter card
Folded tags are made from 250 to 420 gsm card (about 12–18 pt). Heavier board doesn't fold cleanly: the outer surface stretches over the fold and can crack, especially through dark printed areas. Each tag is scored before folding so the crease is straight and the tag closes flat.
If you want a heavier feel, choose 420 gsm, add matte lamination to protect the print across the fold, or switch to a single-panel standard tag on heavier board.
Setting up folded tag artwork
Design the outside (back cover and front cover side by side) and the inside (two inside panels) as two flat pages at 3.94 × 2.36 in. Keep text about 0.12 in away from the fold line as well as the trimmed edges, and leave the hole area clear on both panels.
